Capt. Lewis devoted most of his life to serving the community. He served the Salisbury Fire Department for 18 years in many capacities, including as a firefighter, paramedic and Lieutenant, and before that, he was a 911 dispatcher for Wicomico County Emergency Services and a volunteer for the Westside Fire Department. He was only 43 when he died in 2024.
The scholarship fund was set up at Wor-Wic Community College for students enrolled in the school's paramedic or emergency medical services programs. Students selected will carry on Capt. Lewis' legacy in the EMT/paramedic field.
Congratulations to Vincent Esposito and MaryEllen Hocker, our 2024 recipients.
